Carved Chrsyocolla, antique Mediterranean coral and sterling silver necklace. The Chrysocolla beads (approximately 10mm in diameter) are hand carved and were purchased in the 1970's. Sterling silver spacers. Though similar looking, Chrysocolla is hydrated copper silicate, where turquoise is hydrous copper and aluminum phosphate. This Chrysocolla is gem quality, which is harder than turquoise and rather rare. The coral is precious coral from the Mediterranean. Silver filigree box clasp. A generous 24 inches long.
